Individual psychotherapy is a one-on-one approach that involves only one client receiving psychotherapy with a psychotherapist. This can be very helpful as the client can be able to openly express their concerns, feelings, thoughts, and goals fully without possible interruption from others.
Psychotherapy involves a 50/50 therapeutic partnership where the client and the psychotherapist both do work. This means that sometimes clients may need to try new skills and address difficult subjects in order to truly start the journey to healing and self-improvement. It's not always easy, and requires trust and courage. The psychotherapist exercises patience, may occasionally ask the client to clarify content to better understand, and consistently honours the goals of the client.
